Here are some pictures from the main waiting room in the Children's Hospital. Both sets of grandparents were with us all day which was awesome. Our friend Ryan also brought us coffee and spent some of the day with us as well. At this time, we were waiting to hear about when the surgery had started. We ended up having the front desk call to find out what was going on and we found out that the surgery started at 2:07pm. Shortly after, we were moved to another waiting room so that we could stay updated with progress. More friends and family continued to visit and bring us snacks to pass the time. This was definitely the most difficult waiting period. I felt sick in my stomach but couldn't help but keep stuffing my face with the various kinds of chocolate chip cookies that people brought us. We did whatever we could to pass the time and not think about what was actually happening to Owen. Thankfully, the surgery took about an hour less than we were originally told. We were informed at about 3:10pm that Owen was being stitched up and doing well. Just before 4:00pm, Dr. Smith came by to let us know that the surgery went great and he was very pleased with the results. He even said that this may have been one of his best surgeries yet! We were so relieved/excited/thankful and anxious to see our boy.
